Saving Sex - Leaflet

Saving SexWhat’s more romantic: a cheap microwave meal in front of the TV in the middle of the afternoon or a beautiful candle-lit dinner in an elegant river-side restaurant just after sunset? No comparison. Which requires more “effort” when it comes to planning, making arrangements, expense…? Again, not a tough question. Which one would you prefer?

What’s more romantic: a cheap microwave meal in front of the TV in the middle of the afternoon or a beautiful candle-lit dinner in an elegant river-side restaurant just after sunset? No comparison. Which requires more “effort” when it comes to planning, making arrangements, expense…? Again, not a tough question. Which one would you prefer?

Saving sex for marriage is a bit like this. But sex is so special and so amazing that it’s definitely worth making sure that the context is right – the small details and the big picture. There’s only one big picture that’s good enough for the incredible beauty of sex: the excitement, responsibility and certainty of intimate married love.

Sex speaks a language. It’s a powerful language that we know and feel instinctively. It says, “I love you now and always, and with all of me. You and you alone. You are beautiful to me, and our children will be beautiful to me too. You are central to my life.” In other words, sex speaks the language of full and intimate married love.

Can I “speak” the language of sex – can I have sex with someone – without really meaning what sex says? Certainly it’s possible. Am I getting a good deal? Absolutely not. Outside of the context of intimate married love, the big picture that allows sex to be so truly amazing is broken. Maybe I won’t say I will always be here for you. Maybe I can’t honestly say that I really love you and you alone. Maybe I can’t say that I want and will love your children. But like this sex just isn’t really sex. It’s nowhere near as good as it can be, and it will probably result in me harming myself and the person I “love.” I can definitely choose better than this.

Around the world, millions of young people are choosing to save sex for married love. We want the bigger picture.
